Plot summary

Psychological drama, based on the novella “Moara cu noroc” by Ioan Slavici. The action takes place in the 1870s at an isolated inn near Arad. Greedy for money, the innkeeper Ghiță associates himself with Sămădău in criminal activities, but ends up destroying his life and his family.

Ghiță and Ana arrive at the inn called “Moara cu noroc.” Here, the two of them, along with their children, aim to build a better life free from worries.

However, peace cannot be found at the inn unless you are in cahoots with Lică Sămădăul, so Ghiță tries to maintain a good relationship with him, as well as with the smuggler Pintea. Ghiță is dragged by Lică into various dirty businesses that will distance him from his family, and together with Pintea, he will try to expose Lică.
